Chinese New Year Celebration week

Chinese Lunar New Year Festival in the Greenhouse
2025 Chinese lunar new year-year of snake festival will be on 1/29/25, so we’re having open house celebration from 1/25/25-02/02/25( except 1/27 – 1/29 Monday – Wednesday we’re closed).
Celebrate the Chinese New Year with a week full of vibrant decorations, activities, and traditions in a lush greenhouse setting. Enjoy the festive colors and immerse yourself in traditional Chinese customs surrounded by beautiful plants and a warm community atmosphere.
Decorations
• Red Lanterns: Lanterns hanging from the ceiling create a canopy of light and festivity, adding brightness to the greenhouse.
• Plum Blossom Trees: Potted plum blossoms symbolize resilience and growth. They’re placed around the greenhouse to create auspicious floral displays.
• Chinese Paper Cuttings & Scrolls: Paper cuttings of symbols like “春” (spring ) are displayed on walls, while red scrolls with messages of good fortune line the greenhouse walkways.
• Red Envelopes: Red envelopes are placed throughout as decorations and gifts, representing luck and prosperity for the New Year.

1/26 Sunday 11am-2pm Chinese Dumpling Making: A hands-on dumpling-making station where visitors can learn and make dumplings, an iconic Chinese New Year food representing unity. ( booking closed, full)
1/30 Thursday evening 4-7pm, Chinese buffet catered by a local Chinese food restaurant, pre reservation will be needed at the cost of 30 dollars per adult, kids under 12 will be 15 dollars each! https://square.link/u/ztDcyuVj?src=sheet
1/31 Friday 10am-10.45am Calligraphy Workshop: Guests can try traditional Chinese calligraphy, guided by an expert who demonstrates writing characters symbolizing luck and health.
2/1 Saturday. 10-11am Crafts for Kids: A crafting area for children to create red envelopes and compose their own lanterns, fostering cultural exploration and creativity.( the laser light reflecting latern will be sold at 15 dollars per each)
11am-2pm Chinese dumpling making class

3pm-5pm Chinese Tea-Tasting ceremony and Tanghulu Making Experience: Sample different types of Chinese teas, such as jasmine and oolong, and learn to make crystal sugar fruit while learning about their cultural significance. Tickets: https://square.link/u/v8mVXzHl?src=sheet
Special Events
• Storytelling Corner: Hear traditional Chinese New Year tales that share the folklore and history of this festive season.

• Festive Photo Booth: A decorated booth with traditional props, where families and friends can capture memories.
• Chinese Zodiac Area: Explore displays explaining the Chinese zodiac signs and predictions for the new year, inviting guests to find their own signs.
